Can anyone explain the halo 3 1v1 host?

ok so when i play 1v1s on guardian and i end up being host i always get raped i swear to God why is that? why all the damn time. i shoot them and it feels like they are more efrective and yet im so weak but yet i have host. someone please explain im tired of this bull
